Not since Taylor Camp have I seen a film which seemed so Puna-flavored. Pahoa's yoga enthusiasts have probably long since already seen this fun film and enjoyed the outrageously good soundtrack, but I was unaware of Sita Sings the Blues until seeing it on an Alaska Airlines flight this week. Imho the music and animation in this film are excellent. Sita Sings the Blues is available completely free online for viewing and download but in sincere appreciative support of the artists I went ahead and bought the DVD, soundtrack download, and a couple of prints. Good stuff, this, and they raise some solid points about copyrights too.

In truth my purchase of the DVD and other Sita-stuff was only partly because I want to tangibly reward and encourage the artists behind Sita Sings the Blues. The other portion of my motivation stems from wanting a DVD copy in hand and ready to play because a female friend of mine is, essentially, in the same juxtaposition as both Sita and the modern-day gal in the film vis a vis her own Ram of a husband. My intention is to watch the film together with the two of them and then forevermore call him by "Ram" rather than his actual name, rubbing his nose in his callous behavior toward my friend until he starts behaving more decently to her, at which point I'll start calling him by his given name again.
