Being Attacked by Flying Gnats!
#1
Each evening we get a zillion of those tiny black gnats that are attracted to the light...is there anything we can do to get rid of them or get them down to a dull roar?

Makes for extra protein at dinner time 'cause they land on everything!

Sounds like you've got beer bugs/cocktail or whiskey bugs. Me amd Val call them VW buses. Whatever they're called, they always are a pest when the wild Wa'iwi (Strawberry guava) are ripe here in puna. They seem to get through the tightest screens. We burn citronella lamps, (they fly in and get fried), wear dark clothes at night,(they seem to be attracted to light colors). Turn your lights out. They'll hover over by the TV set.

Yes, we turned out all the inside lights and were watching a dvd on Tony's laptop...they were gone in seconds heading for the bright light outside...I have noticed many ripe guava in the area to be sure. So, it's a seasonal thing really. Citronella ...gonna get some tomorrow. Mahalos.

I think the temperature has to do with these little buggahs! Since it's been cooler NOT A ONE! What a relief. I felt our eyes were getting larger from manuevering in the dark, LOL.

When I lived in Virgina years ago all the country homes used yellow lightblubs on the porches. I recall the logic was that the insects were attracted to the bright white light. The yellow light was not unpleasant.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Rob, How do I get a yellow light in my computer?? Not a light in my room and they come through the screen like it's not even there.

If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it cost when it’s free...now here come the taxes.....

Can you get the finer no-see-um screens on the BI. They will keep anything from passing thru but also reduces the airflow.
