SAF Instant Yeast
#1
Has anybody seen SAF Instant Yeast (16oz.) on the island? I'm down to my last 4-5oz. and hate the what is being charged for shipping here. I tried to find it elsewhere in Hawai'i but the search didn't turn up anything. No, Costco doesn't sell instant yeast. They sell the Active dry yeast. Too slow for the amount of bread I'm baking.

Thanks,

Royall

Royall how big is that monkey on your back?

About as big as the monkey on mine! LOL Can you get it on line and in larger quantities? Good luck.

Aloha.

Royall, I've looked too and haven't had luck...I get mine from King Arthur Flour co. -- once a year or so I do a single big shop to consolidate shipping costs. That way I only get upset once a year Smile

Yeah, Rich that's where I've been getting it to... getting the shaft that is. I made a list of a few things that would be nice to have in the kitchen but then got to the check out and kept removing items until it was down to just 2# of yeast and it still almost 27 bucks. I sent them a nasty gram to see if I can get a little shipping relief. There is no reason to charge that much for flat rate shipping when the boxes are free. Each box would hold about 6# or better of yeast. Hey, if I get a better deal from them on yeast do you need more yeast? I guess I could just use sour dough for everything but I just don't like taking so long to bake!

You can buy it at KTA in Hilo. That's where I have buying mine (16 oz) for a few years. It is usually in stock by the flour.

I shop at KTA once in a while. The only thing I've ever found there was the Active Dry yeast. I have been told that I'm getting blind in my old age! LOL But thanks anyway! And a big hanks to Joy, I'll be getting some from her tomorrow.

Reason?! You have been living here long enough to know that these companies dont give a damn about "reason" in regards to shipping! You better get used it. I just paid more for shipping something here than the actual price of the item! Sickening![Sad!][Sad!][Sad!]

FYI, King Arthur Flour is offering free shipping (with $60 purchase) to continental US and $9.50 shipping to Hawaii through midnight Thursday, so it might be stock-up time.

Here's the fine print: Receive free ground shipping within the contiguous U.S. with your $60 merchandise purchase. Note: Customers in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and APO/FPO customers will pay a total of $9.50 shipping. Expedited shipping (overnight, 2-day, and USPS Priority) will incur the cost of that upgrade. No promotional code necessary. Your merchandise total consists of the sum of the products you've placed in your shopping cart and does not include any sales tax, shipping, or gift cards. Offer cannot be sold, auctioned, transferred, or combined with any other offer, and is void if altered or reproduced. Offer cannot be applied to previous or pending purchases. Not redeemable for cash or credit. Not valid at The Baker's Store. Free shipping offer is valid through 6/24/2010, 11:59pm Eastern Time.
The following items are excluded from offer:

All appliances and their attachments/accessories
Cookbooks
Gift cards
The Baking Sheet Newsletter
Baking Education Center
