VERY TINY BLACK ANTS
#1
Does anyone know how to get rid of tiny black ants in the home? You leave food for just a few minutes, and its covered with the critters. You spray the trail, and the next day, the trail is back. You bomb the house, and they re emerge in about a week. Help!

By entering "ants Hawaii" in your browser, you get an astounding list of sites on the subject. Ants were not indigenous to Hawaii, so all are considered invasive and harmful in their way. http://www.hear.org/ants/images has a dozen of the most common pictured, but no indication of size. On the other hand, there are several, such as U of H, with dozens of pictures, enough to overwhelm.

All of which doesn't stop a single ant in your house. My own experience, though not in Hawaii, is that persistence plus trying to trace the critters back to their source is the most effective.

It is very frustrating, you read that they hate sage, so you block their path with both fresh and ground sage, But you wonder if they even smell it. Then comes the orange rind rubbed across their path. Stops them for about as long as it took to put it there ..maybe a bit longer.. but not like you wish.

The U of H may however, offer some words of wisdom at their site that I did not uncover about how to stop them. I know in Phoenix, back in the sixties, the smallest ants seemed to be the most aggressive. Little fellers got in your sox on purpose and bit!

We'll keep our eyes open for info. Post if you find any positive way to fight back. Good luck.
