Final-ly!
#1
Today was a big day for us, Christmas come early. We have been building in HPP and passed the final inspection on the garage, the framing inspection passed on the main house and a couple of exterior plumbing changes were approved. The ohana has a couple of very minor deficiencies that we expect to have resolved right away. This has come in the nick of time as we are arriving on the BI for an extended stay on Tuesday! Another milestone will be when Jerry moves us from temporary to permanent power. There are so many who have worked to help us with building long-distance, but specific thanks due to the core team of: Daniel Bona (design) and Cat and Robert Emery(and crew); and then MSW Electric; MK Plumbing; Dave Darrah (framing); Kene (rock artistry); Jason(drywall); Steve and Cindy (painters); Ian Rozett(landscaping).

Thanks Glen! It will be a while before the cold, bare bones of construction are transformed into the kind of magic we felt at your home. For instance, you had the small "token TV" in the second bedroom (rather than front and centre in the living room) and we never felt the need to turn it on. Having stayed in many nice vacation homes over the last 8 years or so, all within HPP, we can say with some certainty that our stay there was magical and it wasn't just the bunny. Some of our best times were had with the moonlit pool swims and the hot tub nestled perfectly in the palms. It was memorable enough to convince Aki to "consider" adding a pool to our plans if it won't break the building budget completely! Thankfully, the exchange rate and stronger Canadian dollar of late has really been timely for us and so we advanced our plans accordingly.

Aki - If you have time this visit, go see Markie and Jerry's pool. Quite the feature.

So funny about the "token television". You captured it exactly. I was going for a "back in time" vibe and the television just didn't fit in to it and so I relegated it to the guest room. I eventually did have to move it by popular demand to the living room where it is off to the side and is not a focal point.
