We used to stay in an updated old plantation cottage on Kauai and loved the old feeling. Would love to build one but I am having trouble finding plans. If you go to Waimea Plantation cottages you can see what type of cottage I am interested in. I am also concerned with the dampness and cold in these in eden roc. Would love some opinions from punawebbers.

The old single wall construction Hawaiian-style homes are the past. While I'm not up to date on the subject, I know that lenders stopped lending and insurance companies stopped writing policies on these homes a few years ago.
