mushroom and garlic

How successful have people been growing mushrooms and garlic here? I'm currently living near the bayfront in hilo but looking at growing opportunities in honomu and Puna and curious how those two crops fare there.

I think it's the 2nd best book about gardening in Hawaii besides the Barbara Fahs book.

Professor Hemmes knows his shrooms! Of couse the pictures are much better than the Fahs. Can't wait for the next big rain! But you wouldn't want to take the Hemmes book outside and get all kind dirt on it. It belongs on the living room table. So I'm going bring the shrooms inside and compare it with the pictures!
