Has anyone here had the opportunity to travel to China for medical care/operation/ dental work? after all it is about 5 1/2 hours away from us, about as far away as California but from what i am reading, cost of care is extremely low in comparison to States.
anyone went there? would be very interested to hear your experience.
thank you

It's 8 hours to Japan so I don't think 5 1/2 hours is likely.
Many people go to Thailand for medical tourism.
I think 13 hours is about the shortest travel (from HNL). I was going to go there four years ago, and I looked at every option. China is huge; what part are you thinking of?
I did not find China to be all that cheap for staying there, either. The air pollution and water pollution are really awful.
Thailand seems a better option, but then I never looked at China from the medical angle, only considered as a regular tourist.

Honolulu to Beijing is 10 and a half hours non stop. US$1000 RT
Honolulu to Bangkok is 13 and a half hours around US$1000. RT
But you would probably save money if you had no insurance and you needed something major.
