Both committees recommend that it be passed.I guess it goes to the Senate now for a vote.

Here is what happened to the House version.

I really don't understand why the State can't just find a few people to cross reference VRBO rentals with tax records if they want to collect their taxes.

In the meantime, neither of these bills are likely to pass because the realtors don't want to deal with it!!

If they succeed in requiring realtors to act as rental agents,it will destroy the tourist industry.Because of RICO realtors would be unable to rent any non permitted or non-code units !!

I borrowed this quote from a Real Estate Pro :

"Check the last Real Estate Commission Bulletin. It's full of real estate agents already fined $5,000 for ADVERTISING non-conforming properties for vacation rentals! One license was REVOKED for RENTING such a property!"

The people behind these bills are the people living in Kailua on Oahu who bought homes on the beach and then found out that the next door neighbor was running a rental business.Imagine having Obama partying down next door every Christmas !!

Edited because I wanted to !
