Get an electric water heater and be back where you started from!
Actually, yes: there are DC water heater elements for use as a "diversion load", primarily in wind-power systems.

Industry uses lots of energy to split salt into chlorine and caustic soda ..... most of the chlorine price is based on energy.....

get long extension cords and sell it to your neighbors
distilled water processing plant. Alkalize it for extra profits. just asking; can you take off some of the panels and sell them? ><(((*> ~~~~ ><(("> ~~~~ ><'> ~~~~ >(>

Thanks Frank, that was interesting. Imagine using your electric car as a backup power supply for your house. That could be the answer!
If you just had the (electric) car battery you could go around filling it up at the houses of people with excess energy (and pay them e.g. 15c per kwh) and then sell it to others (who can use it as described in the article, to power their house and cut electricity bills) at, say, 30c per kwh. Thanks for the ideas, keep 'em coming. Yes, baking would be a good way to burn electricity but I'm not into that. I have thought about selling it to my neighbors, it is a bit of a hassle. One reason I overdid it on the panels was because I heard they produce less over time. So, I won't be selling them off.
