I'm wondering if there is any chance of Albezia that is chipped starting to grow again from the pieces. Don't want to take any chances.

@ Dory -
Highly unlikely. Pile up the chips and let them compost, or use for mulch around other plants.

Within the last several days, there has been a company (that will remain annonymous)clearing a lot and cutting down the Albizia. On one occasion, a huge branch fell on a neighbor's fence; 2nd occasion: HUGE brance fell on another neighbor's house. Luckily, the occupants didn't get hurt, but their roof and part of the house suffered damage. Then, while still cutting the same tree, another part of it fell on the electrical lines thus cutting power to several blocks. Egad!

HAHAHA Maybe the same guy, only on Kauai. From KHON channel 2 news: A Koloa man was arrested Wednesday after a pine tree he cut down landed on a truck traveling along Kamualii Highway in Omao in the vicinity of Kahili Mountain Park. According to a preliminary police report, Peter Kealohi, age 43, was hired by a private property owner to cut down a large pine tree on the lot, which borders the park-side of Kaumuali'i Highway. As Kealohi was cutting down the tree, it fell across the highway and landed on a Dodge pickup truck in the eastbound lane, smashing the roof and bed of the truck and injuring the driver. The woman, age 64 of Koloa, was transported to Wilcox Hospital with a possible neck injury and later released.Another pickup, also heading east, sustained major front-end damage when it collided with the fallen tree. The 39-year-old operator of that truck was not injured. Keolohi was arrested for second degree Reckless Endangering. Nominate him for the Darwin Awards.

That is why some lots are so cheap, or at least, appear to be cheap. A lot of tree cutters won't bid on the job if it looks too dangerous or there is the possibility of property damage. The top heaviness makes the fall unpredictable and subject to sudden wind change, which occurs about every 15 minutes around here. A few specialists will bring in a bucket lift truck to cut off the top branches before felling but that costs mucho big bucks plus they aren't going to risk their equipment to get to difficult to reach areas. This place is a biological wonderland, especially for invasive species. The general information about albezia trees state they grow to about 50 feet tall. Bull-pucky! Around here, there are plenty that appear to be almost 100 feet tall. Then, they aren't very deeply rooted because they are on top of lava, only held down by a thin layer of soil. The sad thing for some people that buy these lots, thinking they are getting a huge bargain, after clearing away the trees for several thousand dollars, find lava bubbles and mounds over the whole lot, needing at least a D9 bulldozer to make level, for tens of thousands more, and sometimes the D9 operators won't risk their dozer for fear of breaking through a lava bubble. I see this happen with lot after lot after lot. There may be lots of lots (pun intended) but quite a few are just unbuildable for any kind of permanent building.

The thing about albizia love is that it has a very beautiful flower when it blooms. That love is skin deep and blind, as love often turns out to be.
