solar water heater repair
#1
Need some suggestions on who can work on my system. It's unknown age, probably not put in professionally, gimmy-rigged, etc. But it worked until this week. Now I need serious help cuz' I don't enjoy cold showers.
The set up is two tanks, one is a 50 gal electric, the other is a 40 gal gas. The gas water heater was set up to back up solar when the sun isn't out only I learned the regulator is broken and the plumber I used didn't want to fix it...only wanted to get a new heater. The electric heater worked when plumber checked it but it never worked after he left! He was a union plumber and I CAN'T afford $85/hr.
The two tanks are plumbed to mix with each other and solar is prime heating. The Goldline sensor light indicates "no power" but everything is plugged in. Wondering if sensor needs replacing. Whew...hard to explain but that's about it in a nutshell.

No experience with repair, but Drainpipe did our install and were very professional.

I am assuming you checked the breakers on the electric already.

They still make tank gas water heaters but do people really use them anymore? The tankless variety are a lot more energy efficient and in the same price range.
