Wedding Cakes - Hilo
#1
Hi everyone,
My son lives in Hilo and he and his fiancee are getting married in March. I'm in process of finding a baker to create their wedding cake. I lived in Puna for nearly 6 years but moved to mainland 2 years ago for family reasons and feel a bit out of touch. The wedding cake baker that made my daughter's cake in 2007 seems to be out of business (she was out of a bread bakery on Kino'ole).
I wanted to get your input and suggestions. I contacted Short 'n Sweet Bakery to get a form emailed to get an estimate but would like a variety.
Any feedback is appreciated!

Aloha, Anna

Thanks Carey - Hilo Bake Co. is the "buzz" my son was mentioning with regard to the "maple bacon donut" - He works in the Mail and Printing Dept. at Kamehameha Schools and a teacher brought in a dozen of these. He said they were "a little bit of heaven" hahaha!

Thanks for the tips - I'll contact those on the list you provided! I can't wait to return home to Big Island.
p.s. I'm also open to private local folk who make cakes if anyones knows of someone. THANKS

Aloha, Anna

Teena is amazing, gives great prices and is an absolute angel to work with. She did our three tier wedding cake two years ago without only a few weeks notice. It was the best cake I have ever tasted, and looked straight out of a magazine. All the other cake maker companies would have charged over $2000 for that cake. She gave us an unbelievable deal at 1/4 of that cost. We even paid her extra because she was such a gem.

Short and Sweet is not. Personal bad experience there...$$$$

They have a great selection and pretty stuff...I will not shop there again, sadly.

I'll vouch for Teena ("Try Teena in HPP--her number is 966-5435") - she's made our cakes (and other amazing beautiful and incredibly delicious food) for years. Seriously, give her a shout, she's great at this stuff.

They have done birthday cakes (had one this weekend, yummy, though not maple-bacon), but the shop has not done wedding cakes...yet.... they do have some tiers to look at.... the baker has done them, but not at the new shop...
