I know that house I see it every time I drive up the Hamakua coast from Hilo... its the only one on the makai side of the road at the very bottom of the gulch at Maulua Bay (or maybe the next one Laupahoepahoe Gulch?), the driveway has the Sothebys sign and the home can be seen before you go down in the gully (from south side of gully) you can see the house and the picnic bench... only prob is it looks very low and a risk for a tsunami... never could tell the home was so small but that is a very cool place to have a house...

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha

Gordon Bennett, there's a Daily Wail reader on Punaweb. Just like coquis I guess, there's no way to stop 'em.

Nice view.

In the comment section following the article, I found the comment by "Steve Chiverton" rather interesting.

Wegian - you have to remember that 1) "Steve Chiverton" is a Daily Mail reader, so that should put you on guard straight away, and more seriously, 2) most people in the UK when they see property prices think about the cost of the building rather than the land - it's just the way it is in the UK. In most cases the people see a property as the building alone and the garden or yard comes with it for free. Of course it doesn't but it explains many of the sillier comments about the article. Point no. 1 also explains them as well! Interesting that "Steve Chiverton claims to be in Ascot - that's just a couple of miles from where I grew up!

As for the Daily Mail, well, you can judge their journalistic and editorial standards simply from the caption to the last photo: "Breathtaking: Maua [sic] Kea reaches 33,500ft from its ocean base - twice the height of Mount Everest [sic]".

Hello Tom,

My morning routine starts off with some coffee and a skim through Punaweb. This morning after looking over my previous post, I realized (or realised) that it was rather vague. (Going forward, I will make an effort to refrain from commenting until after I am completely awake.) What I failed to convey was that I found Steve’s offer particularly humorous, especially: “and you can have a go of my washing line on Wednesdays”.

BTW, I appreciate your comments and what you add to these online conversations (you even got me to Google Gordon Bennett…) Best of luck to you and UKIRT.

Fred

P.S.

Ken, I apologize for derailing your thread.
