House Plans - Architect Stamp
#1
Hello building experts,
I'm new to building, so my question may seem elementary. I have a question about having a licensed Hawaiian architect stamp plans. Does this mean that only a house plan designed by a Hawaiian architect is allowed or can I use a house plan I found on the internet and then have a Hawaiian architect review and then stamp the plans for permitting.

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you

If you find a mainland plan you like, it is best to have it redrawn by a local drafter, who can then get the seal from a local architect or engineer. As someone who has had to work off some of the plans from the mainland, (and here I mean not designed for Hawaii code or typical construction methods used on the islands), I can attest that they often leave off vital information or just plain "don't work"

I can stamp drawings for you. I am mostly on the mainland where I teach architecture, then June 7 to August 8 I will reside in central HPP.
