IF you are bringing kids with you, you'll needthis

There is a piece of cardstock paper, that is called a "Health Record" and it is most important here! It's actually really great and I wish the entire US would follow Hawaii's model in using this... But again, I will get off the soapbox and give more info... IF you are moving here with kids, get a copy of a blank one of these. I believe I got one from the preschool I was enrolling my son in prior to moving here- somehow convinced some staff to mail me one. I then photocopied 3 copies onto cardstock on the mainland. Then I took these with me to the kids regular doctor after filling in as much as I could. At the doctor's office I had them fill in the rest (lead testing for instance- that had been missed - and they ran and did it that day for my two little ones) Then when we got off the plane, I could go and enroll all 3 of my kids without any hassle here, and without having to find them a doctor right away either. Saved me quite a bit of stress! I actually enrolled my preschooler in a school without ever seeing it, just based on proximity to my house, and I basically just sent them money after speaking on the phone, and said, "we'll be here on this date and he'll start school then". It all went really smoothly, and I could just hand them the "HEalth Record" on the first day I took him there. Hope this is helpful info!

LOL I had NONE of that stuff. I've never been a good record keeper and living where we did last it was never important.

I went to register my daughter and they said I needed that OR an appointment to get shots.

I called the last school she was in, they printed off her records and faxed them to the school. My daughters doc that gave all her childhood shots has passed away and I have no idea how to even get those records.

Soooooo

We took that fax to our local doctor and they signed off on everything since the school in Alaska had already verified that the information was correct.
