Oceanic has started to swap out the three CMTS serving West Hawaii last night. This allowed them to increase the amount of downstream and upstream channels from four to six and two to three.
The CMTS swap out will take until May 23rd. Then it will take two weeks to shakedown the equipment. The standard tier speed upgrade to 15Mbps will be implimented after the shakedown period in West Hawaii.
The Hilo side on the other hand will take longer. Oceanic has to do fiber-optic cable upgrades before any speed increase happens.
