In Memory of Pam - 7th Ann. SCUBA Sunday/Beach Day
#1
Some have wanted to join together this Sunday morning to early afternoon, at Richardsons.

Seven years ago yesterday Pam had arranged for the first Hilo Dive Sunday, but it was rained out, and on the first Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006 the first Punaweb SCUBA Sunday, watersports, beach day was held.

Bob & Josh have asked everyone to join them at Richardsons this Sunday, Sept. 1 to remember Pam, with the potluck beach day that Pam created.

They will be joining us from 11am - 1pm, and then will be inviting everyone to join them up at the Lamont Ranch in Glenwood from 2pm until 6pm, as Pam had wished to be remembered at both places.

Pams rules will still be: come when you can, leave when you must, bring what you can share.

I will have the pop ups, the box of paper plastic stuff, most likely Lilikoi Leamondade, fruit platter & if I remember the grill n stuff... also Kayaks & snorkel stuff ... along with some yard flowers to send to sea.

Holly Molly... what a day! We had four hard core divers that did two dives past the reefs. We had a few others checking out gear, lots of snorkeling and two or three kayaks that everyone shared. What a great time. Water sports club it is!!! Though we are striving to form a Hilo Dive Club, it is really neat that all the support people and family members can come and have water sports activities too... plus the food! Hotdogs appeared on the grill, soup in a pot, then fresh baked bread, brownies, chips and salsa, a fruit platter.... it was endless. The last of us packed up after 4 PM. Whoa.. what a day! This is the beginning of something special.

Thank you Chili for all your efforts both before and during the day's activities... hauling thr grill and shade/easy-up, etc.... Andrew, can't wait for you to get some of those photos posted.

I must say that Richardson's offered more interest than I expected. It was a longish swim out past the surfers and the reef, but once out there we found great nooks and crannies and rock formations. I think I may have found the beginning of my seafood store.. rock scallops, if I recognized them. Will take my pry bar and a mesh bag next dive. We just might be eating good!

I swam with turtles several times, saw eels, nudibranchs, lots of small reef fish. Nothing I would bother to speer but I have to wonder if there isn't a lobster and crab population out there at night...."

That is so wonderful. I am still trying to realize this is real and she has passed. What a void she has left.

I was wondering if someone could perhaps make a video and post it afterwards for those of use who just can't be there?

Aloha to all.

I have family visiting from the mainland and Oahu for only one day, and this was such short notice. Really sorry I can't make it, but my thoughts will be with Bob, Josh and the rest of you. Some of my sheep I got from Pam, so I feel that we are ohana. She will surely be missed.

Pam,
May your Punaweb signature 'I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!" ' be officially retired. No one wore it like you did.

We, too, have family visiting, from the mainland. Sophie and I have chatted, sharing our memories about and with dear Pam.
Miss you

I know a good time was had by all. I have to work the market on Sunday and by the time I get home and unloaded afterwards...it's really too late to attend stuff. So glad Pam is free of her body and we are still a little shocked about her passing. Her message to us all would be to enjoy life while you have it...live in the moment, right? Blessings.
