FYI: Just saw on the morning news: 6.8 earthquake in Aleutian Islands. (Initial reading)

No reports of tsunami threat yet (just happened a few minutes ago @ 6:42am).

Update: No tsunami warning for Hawai'i. Some reports showing 7.0!

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
A magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurred 57 miles east-southeast of Adak, Alaska, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake was at a depth of 24.4 miles. The U.S. Geological Survey says the earthquake happened about 6:25 a.m. Hawaii time.

Magnitude 7.0 quakes or greater are capable of causing widespread and heavy damage. There have been no immediate reports of damage.

The earthquake was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports, "Based on all available data a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii. Repeat. A destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
