just wanted to know if there are any slaughter houses in Hilo? looking to buy cow meat direct from a slaughter house. I know Maui has one just wanted to know if Hilo has one thanks!

I believe there is also a Slaughterhouse in Paauilo

I remember reading a few years back, Big Island Weekly did an article which showed pictures of composting cattle carcasses left to rot on land by the slaughterhouse. There was some concern about the possibility of water contamination in that area, from the article below it look as if that problem has been taken care of.

In Paauilo -- Hawaii Beef Producers.

We have had two steers custom slaughtered there and have an appointment for another on Jan 8.
Not sure what they do or not re direct selling.
