Family is arriving from mainland soon and plan A fell through. Looking for a nice, clean inexpensive place for 10 days in February. Can anyone recommend some where? Much thanks.[?]

When we first arrived to the island, we found a great deal for staying (through Priceline for a seven day stay) at the Hilo Seaside Hotel. It wasn't fancy, but it was very clean and convenient to everything. I believe they have coffee makers and small fridges in each room as well as a laundry facility on site. I believe it was $50/night before tax. Best of luck!

I like the Wild Ginger Inn. It is old plantation workers housing so it is a very authentic experience. Plus it has a wide price range.

If you have more people than just a couple and want a kitchenette the Dolphin Bay Inn is very reasonable for what you get, they may be booked up though. My parents used to stay there when we were in a tiny condo in Hilo and couldn't put them up.
