Hawaiian Shores
#1
Does anyone here on Punaweb live in Hawaiian Shores, and/or know about the different places for sale there? I have questions about a specific property I am interested in buying, and I am hoping to get a local's knowledge. Maybe we could message privately?

My email address is:

Thank you so much! [8)]

aloha I don't live in HS, but they have a nice park with a pool that only HS residents can access. the community association dues are $350 a year. I am not sure if the rules have changed but you used to have to ask permission from the association to paint your house or due landscaping. you can't have certain pets (pit bull dogs etc.) or live stock (chickens etc.) as far as safe, I live close by (for 20+ years) and have never had trouble. (raised three kids here) you can call the HS community association to find out more info. hope this was helpful.

IT's only HSRE that has the strict HOA and pool.

I live in the Shores and it is a nightmare don't do it, do not buy property here. You will regret it.

Hi Shoresresident - you may have shared in other threads but could you be more specific as to why it is a nightmare and they would regret it? Thank you!

Hawaiian Beaches, Hawaiian Parks, and Hawaiian Shores do not have CCRs or access to the pool and park, they do have lots of roosters we noticed. The Pool and Park are for Hawaiian Shores Recreation Estates, who do have CCRs and HOA dues. Their CCRs are online and are one page long. They do not include anything about what color you paint your house, or what kind of dog you can have, but you cannot have livestock (roosters) or breed pets for profit. You also can't have permanent junk cars or any outbuildings in front of your house, and they want to see your house plans before you build.

The four subdivisions are narrow strips running from the ocean towards Pahoa, if you check the subdivision out on Googlemaps HSRE is the one where there is no street view. There is a white line painted on the street demarcation the change from Hawaiian Shores to HSRE. Email me through punaweb if you want more specific information about a certain property, we are there pretty regularly and may know it.

Thank you all. I am gathering intel. I am not a fan of CCrs but sounds like the ones in HSRE are sensible, minimal, and okay by me!
Shoreresident, please be more specific. THANK YOU!!!

when scouting out an area - first I take all the local bus lines to get a feel for the area / connect names to places

then.... I beg borrow or steal a police scanner .... worth its weight in gold as a predictor to how quiet ones friday nights - will or wont be

I would double down on that before buying in Puna

Bi,
If you look here:

http://hawaiianshorescommunity.com/home.html

There is info about the beaches and crime stats for the last year compared to the rest of Puna. Looks pretty safe to me!
