Need help wikiwiki (Hawaiian Language Speakers)
#1
My Nephew is getting married this weekend on the mainland and I want to send a congratulatory email message from his Aunt and Uncle (yours truly) here in Hawaii.

Any suggestions for a nice Hawaiian blessing for a young couple getting married (not too long) Also need English translation.

Mahalo Nui in advance.

I don't speak Hawaiian, but keep a file of useful phrases. I can't guarantee they're accurate (I found them online), but will your nephew know if they're wrong? ;-}

"E pili mau na pomaika'i maika'i me 'oe" is "Best Wishes" NOTE: "na" the a has a kahakô--a line over it; the "pomaika'i" has a kahakô over the o.
Celebration: Ho`olaule`a
Congratulate: Ho'omaika'i
Congratulations: Ho'omaika'i 'ana
Wedding: Male 'ana
Wedding feast: 'Aha'aina male

Hey Thanks Lee. That's a nice start. My Nephew did attend 4 years at UH Manoa but I'm sure won't know the difference.

Aloha,
Andrew

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
