For those off-grid: Presidential debates
#1
I'm really stretching it here for the Puna angle but I gotta try...

Had requests for a common public place where people off the grid, as many are in Puna, to be able to view the presidential debates. So I asked Prof. Todd Belt if UHH could arrange public viewing of the debates and he has reserved Wentworth Bldg., Room 1 at UH-Hilo for screening of the next Republican Presidential Debate which will take place from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday. Professor Belt hopes there will be time for a brief discussion afterwards.

He will schedule a time to screen the October 13 Democratic Presidential Debate once a time for that event is announced. A number of Punatics 4 Bernie were asking for a setting to watch the Democratic Party's debates, the first of which will be held in Las Vegas and televised by CNN.

Note that the Wentworth building is on the side of the campus bordering W. Lanikaula Street. Here is a map:

This is very local, Punatics who want to know who is running for president, and what they have to say and have no access to watching now have a place to watch. That is a wonderful thing!

For those off grid or for people without a cable subscription, if you have an internet connection or smart phone plan with data, CNNgo will stream the debate for free on their website, even if you don't have a cable subscription as they usually require.
