Cutter Lemon Eucalyptus Bug Spray
#1
Is there a local source for this non-DEET spray? I checked Amazon and it either will not ship in other Brands, or takes 1-2 months because they have to "ground" ship it. and my reason to get this...[urlhttp://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2016/01/30/464740275/whats-the-best-way-to-keep-mosquitoes-from-biting][/url]

there are a few brands that use Lemon Eucalyptus in their sprays. Ive seen them sold around at Walmart, Home Depot etc.
ie

it used to be harder to get, but in last few years I seen it alot in stores.... I dont like it myself way too strong of a scent... plus 25% to 100% deet works better and longer IMO (the higher the % the longer it lasts) , ...and we will all live to be 80 yrs old on average w/ or w/o deet, GMO, etc... ie from 1961-2002 only 8 people died from Deet, and most drank it...

On the Amazon page:

http://www.amazon.com/Cutter-Eucalyptus-...B00860Y3DQ

Have you tried the right hand side of the page where it says "Other Sellers on Amazon" and lists an actual "Sold by: Amazon.com" option verses the main seller which is Dave 'n' Mark's? My reasoning is whereas often other venders do not ship easily to Hawaii Amazon itself does. I can not speak for this product specifically but I did go through this with another product just yesterday where no other vender would ship here (the product weighs over 100 pounds) but Amazon does and for free. Please let us know if you are successful.

And why would this be any safer than DEET ?

From Web MD :

"Lemon eucalyptus oil is safe for most adults when applied to the skin as a mosquito repellent. Some people might have a skin reaction to the oil.

Lemon eucalyptus oil is UNSAFE to take by mouth. Some chest rubs for congestion (Vicks VapoRub) contain lemon eucalyptus oil. These products can cause seizures and death if eaten.
Special Precautions & Warnings:
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Not enough is known about the use of lemon eucalyptus oil during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use."

Try Bullfrog Mosquito Coast; sunscreen and Non- DEET mosquito repellant. Works for me. Repellant is IR3535; google it.

Consumer Reports rates the Repel Lemon Eucalyptus as the second best performing insect repellent that they have tested. Their testing determined that it is effective at repelling Aedes Mosquitoes for up to 7 hours. They gave it an overall score of 87 out of a possible 100.

In that same testing, the only repellent that they rated higher than Repel Lemon Eucalyptus was Sawyer Fisherman's Formula. It was rated 96 out of a possible 100, and was noted as being effective at repelling Aedes Mosquitoes for up to 8 hours.

They rated the Bull Frog Mosquito Coast much, much lower. They gave it an overall score of just 25 out of a possible 100. Their testing determined that it is effective at repelling Aedes Mosquitoes for only about 45 minutes.

So, please, be cautious about the products which you may rely on for the safety of you, and your family. You may be receiving much less protection than you had hoped for. Please note: Anecdotal results may vary.

wife made up spray of "Lemon eucalyptus oil" & garlic water etc. It was amazingly effective as a repellent , burned skin & created rash on myself & 6 year old grandaughter .

We have this available to use where I work, but I've found the repellency wears off after only an hour or so. 25% DEET works about two or three hours at least. The eucalyptus smell stays though, and while it's pleasant at first, it makes me sick to my stomach after a while. It's harder to clean off than DEET as well.
