Can someone explain Hawaii caucuses vs primary?

Over 2 hours in line. I wish we were an open primary state with all elections managed by County Elections Department (warts and all).

It seems like those of us who came "on time" as suggested by the organizers had to deal with the waits and chaos and those who came in later got in and out pretty quick.

Overall it wasn't bad except for the woman who got in line behind us and started up with a long loud rant about how she was from California and had never caucused before, and then went into great detail about how it was all about in groups and out groups and people who think they are just so special and on and on and on. I finally asked her how she knew what it was like if she had never caucused before and she shut up. Everyone else was in a festive mood and very patient, the volunteers were under trained and over worked but trying really hard.
