Open note to candidates
#1
Candidates,

Please don't spam potential constituents.

If you want to get your message out, there are many more ways to do it (direct mail, advertisements, booths at farmer's markets, handing out flyers in public, etc).

---

Explanation: I got an email today addressed to HPP Resident, from somebody running for something (I don't want to give them more publicity). I asked to be removed from the list and they have kindly complied.

Needless to say, they did lose my vote bc I did not supply them with my email address. My PRIVATE email. That as far as I know is not in any public forum. When I find out who supplied it, I will make my discontent known.

Hmm, do you use your address for any official government correspondence? Permit system, hawaii.gov, medical, etc? Maybe you've uncovered misappropriation of county data!

I got the same unwanted email today DTisme. I too am not happy about it. I would also like to know which organization I have trusted with my personal information shared it and why. That's not the way to get my vote.

And while we have your attention, candidates, please stop the sign waving!
You're slowing traffic and potentially causing accidents.
One of the dimmer sign wavers was actually capering around on the highway itself a while back. Oh, wait, that was the candidate himself; glad he lost.

"Maybe you've uncovered misappropriation of county data!"

More likely HPPOA data.

I also got this email, but I did not find it offensive. It explains who he is and gives his experience. He probably doesn't have a chance, but I respect him for trying, give the guy a break.

I much prefer this to a bunch of boiler plate mailers clogging up my box with endorsements for some Shmendrik by people I have never heard of.

Sorry, BillyB. Spam is spam, and it's not wanted in a private email box. I, too suspect HPPOA, or perhaps Neighborhood Watch. These are not public email lists.

Email is signed "Friends of Michael Bernard."

Please, local groups, don't give out email addresses that have been entrusted to you!!
