Someone has suggested to me that sowing grass seeds would help control the weeds in my yard. I'm in HPP and have a lot of sleeping grass and many other weeds that take a lot of time and effort to control.
Does anyone know if this might work? If so, what kind of grass seeds should I buy, and where can I get them?

I never heard of grass seed that could choke out sleeping grass. The only solution to sleeping grass I know of is gloves and a pair of pliers.

Maybe you can borrow a neighbor's goat. They love sleeping grass.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'll go dig out the pliers. I did ask my neighbor about borrowing his goat, but he said "no" because another neighbor has dogs loose :-(

Perennial Peanut chokes out almost everything once it's established.
Until the pigs come and rip it up, anyway.
Using Roundup and/or a string trimmer, grind down all the existing weeds. Cover everything with cardboard, then spread a layer of mulch on top. Plant the peanutgrass starts. Over the next 6-12 months, pluck out anything that's not the peanutgrass. Eventually, it grows into a thick mat.

If you are going to plant grass, bermuda grass is drought, salt, and heat tolerant and does well here. It's also a good self-repairing grass. If pigs root it up you can generally just flatten it out and it will fix itself. You can buy it anywhere that sells outdoor stuff (HD, Walmart, etc). Look for a brand that is dehulled and it will sprout quicker. The downside to bermuda grass is it takes a very long time sprout and you'll have to make sure it stays wet until it's growing. That can be a problem on large areas if you're on catchment and we're not getting any rain.
