Looking For A Rental
#1
Aloha, I've been lurking on the site for a while but this is my first posting. Does anyone know of any available rentals. I'm flexible on location but am looking for at least 1 acre and a dog friendly property. Im been looking at Hawaiian Acres, Fern Acres and Leilani. I actually have friends Im staying with in Leilani 2. I have good references and credit. I know this topic is asked often but if anyone has advice on subdivisions, please advise. Thanks

Craigslist. Beware of scams though because there are many too good to be true deals on Craigslist rentals.

Rentals are extremely tight right now and rentals that allow dogs are even tougher to find. Hope your dog isn't one of the "uninsurable breeds" because almost no one will rent to you then.

No, not uninsurable breeds. I've actually been able to look at quite a few properties, I was getting a feeling there are alot around but then again im originally from an outer island(Kaua'i); so im used to a even tighter market.

When we moved here we had a vacation rental for two nights after which we were to be homeless WITH SEVEN PARROTS (our dog had about a month left on her 4-month wait to come). We had a 3 acre lot near Volcano with a 40' shipping container, a small catchment, cesspool and functioning toilet, but it would have been closer to camping than an actual place to stay.

Somebody answered my wife's craigslist ad "Looking for parrot friendly rental" and miraculously it was available the same day we would have been homeless. Even more miraculously still, the place was only available for just under 3 months and the day we had to be out was about the same day we closed on our house and moved into our permanent home. We asked the universe for only what we needed, and it gave exactly that and no more.
