Brian Schatz and Cory Booker & Net Neutrality
#1
Today many large internet companies are leading the push back against selling access to the highest bidders on the internet. They want to keep access equal to all internet activities so providers can't block websites or applications at their discretion.

Here's Brian Schatz and Cory Booker talking about the subject. Brian has been fighting and talking about this subject for quite some time.

You can go to http://GOFCCYOURSELF.COM (under Proceedings you will see +Express in blue, CLICK ON THAT) to tell the FCC about keeping the data flowing on internet free from corporations' arbitrary restrictions and keeping the net neutral.

I wrote the fcc and my Hawaii reps on this topic. Neutrality keeps innovation and small companies competitive with the already established media companies. Especially here in Hawaii, we will never see a startup culture or Internet opportunities for kids if they have to compete at a disadvantage to netflix, google, and other giant silicon valley companies.

At a minimum ISPs should have to publish how much open Internet bandwidth they have per customer, as opposed to peering with media companies like netflix and google. It would probably be eye opening here in Puna to see how little actual bandwidth HT, Spectrum, Exede, or Aloha provide.

Isn't this akin to selling UPS or FEDEX the #1 highway lane in every state?

It's actually worse than that. They could completely block the road to some destinations, create extremely slow detours and put tolls up everywhere.
