Not sure how to read that data. Were 180 hogs shipped to Hawaii, or from Hawaii to market on the mainland? The header says, "ALL SWINE PURCHASES BY STATE OF ORIGIN", does that mean the swine originated in Hawaii, or the purchase originated in Hawaii?

P.S. I thought it was funny that Canada is listed as one of our states. They prolly don't think it's very funny, tho.

All you have to do is read Robin Cook's TOXIN, and it will cure you of non-organic meat immediately. While this is fiction, it is still very telling of the industry and what the high demand for meat in America has created as far as an industry.

In case you don't want to read the book, the standard mentioned for a usable cow, good enough for market, was he had to be able to walk on four legs. It could be barely and could be obviously ill, but if it was on four legs, it was good to go.

I saw a documentary on slaughterhouses once and the stock yard was just dirt and over 600,000 head of cattle. There were there to be fattened up. I have no idea on what, but they are pumped full of steroids, hormones and antibiotics to keep them alive and promote quick growth.

My husband is convinced that is why his kids have size 13 feet and no one else in the family has them. His feet are size 9 but EEEE. Very wide feet. I tell him his feet grew fat and his kid's grew long, it all probably comes from the same gene.
