Aloha Democrats and those working for progress for our islands and society. The Democratic Party of Hawaii (DPH) Precinct Meetings are happening statewide on Wednesday, March 7th from 6-8pm. This is where big ‘D’ Democrats meet up with little ‘d’ democracy in our Party representative process. We will choose our Precinct and District officers and delegates to County and State Conventions.

Your ability to influence the issues, resolutions, platform, leadership and laws that you care deeply about also starts here. Issues like; Social justice, economic equality, individual rights, worker rights, health, housing, education, environment, government function, culture, arts, etc.

Going to your Precinct Meeting and becoming a Precinct officer and/or a Convention Delegate is essential to participate in voting and in debate and decision making for our County and State Conventions and Party Platforms.

STAY THROUGH THE WHOLE PRECINCT & DISTRICT PROCESS! All Members can run for District Chair and can observe the new District Council electing District leaders and verify the recorded results.

To be elected, nominate yourself or have a friend nominate you. Or nominate your friends and people you admire or trust to lead and represent yourself and our Party and organize our collective work.

Process Summary:

1. Precinct Level Leadership; President, Vice President, District Council Person, Secretary and Treasurer. (Precinct Chair, 1st VP and District Council Persons, male & female, are delegates to County Conventions)

2. Precinct Delegate election to State Convention and Alternate Delegates (vary by precinct size), all gender balanced. (Delegates go and Alternates fill in for Delegates who can not make it, in slot order)

3. District Election of At-Large Delegates to County Convention (where applicable, varies by county) Delegates get listed on sheet in the order of votes they receive, from highest to lowest.

4. New Incoming District Organizational Meeting of the Precinct Presidents, 1st VCs and Council Reps (District Council) will convene to elect new District Officers; Chair (need not be on Council), Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer (need to be from Council). (District Chair is delegate to State Convention)

Yes. We should continue to vote in the same party that has caused the mess here in Hawaii.

I think Ldude has it right...

"Democrats have won both legislative chambers every two years since 1962. In 2016, they just won literally every seat in the 25-member state Senate for the first time since Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959."

5 seats went to republicans in the State House in 2016..
