Contra Flow on Highway 130 schedule
#31
...and by the way, the commute is way better. Each day this week shaved off at least 10 minutes to HIlo.

Thank you State DOT.

FFS - take a breath. 10 minutes off of 30, 10 minutes off of 60, or what? Apparently those 10 minutes are REALLY valuable to you as you can think of NO other way to get to Hilo on time without the state's help.

My point (like you care, as everyone is against everything, especially your ten irreplaceable minutes) is that many places handle such arrangements with striping and signage so drivers can figure out what the rules of the road are. Instead we pay people to arrange and rearrange cones every day.

I think we should tear out the round-about and all traffic-lights and replace them with people with flags directing each car how to proceed. Give everyone that daily face-to-face direction without which no one apparently is able to arrive anywhere on time.`

Correct. Local government's "best and highest purpose" is to create jobs for their family members who would otherwise be unemployable.

as of today, there are 2 lanes open south on 130 from Hiway 11 to within 400 yards (+-) of the Kaloli left turn lane 24hrs per day on weekends and 19hrs per day Mon thru Fri...All going south, out of Hilo

Why not contra the movement in the afternoon instead of in the mornings? Leaving 2 lanes from 400 +- yards from Kaloli ALL the way to Hilo! 24hrs per day on weekends and 19 hrs per day Mon thru Fri...I suggest this maneuver would also free up right turns off Shower as there are now 2 lanes headed north most of the time...could be done with re striping...
