Pam,

Are they Apple certified for repairs? If so, that would be great!

Frankie,

If you're seeing those bands all of the time, regardless of what application you're running, or even when you're not running one, it's more than likely your display or display cable. If you're only seeing it in Word, then it could be an issue with Word. However, in my experience with Macs, I've never seen something like this happen with only one application.

You should try the Apple Support website and the link for hardware
http://www.apple.com/support/hardware/
What kind of display do you have? A cathode ray tube display (CRT) or flat-screen (Cinema)? Find links to your type of display and search on some keywords like "monitor vertical white bands".

Try the discussion links and search on the same keywords for user discussions about similar events.

Thanks for your input, everyone.

Just FYI, these white bands are on my viewing screen all the time. I have to move things around just to read stuff. They appeared after I used the Word for Mac application using the new document dropdown. It has not happened when I've just accessed a saved document and just dashed off a communique with a new save-as and not gone into the new document ap.

Again, mahalo nui loa. Frankie
