I'm so glad we moved to Puna ...

My last 5 years in AK, I drove school bus while waiting for my SoSec to start when I turned 70.
I just watched a live feed video of a school bus stuck in the fresh snow up on Hillside above Los Anchorage.

Been there, done that, don't want to have to do it again.
I'd rather deal with a volcano, thank you.

If that is first snow for them, it's a bit late.
Used to be, first snow was almost always within a day or two of October 15th.
Think I'll go out and sit on the lanai with my coffee and contemplate my good fortune.

Was a Democrat until gun control became a knee jerk, then a Republican until the crazies took over, back to being a nonpartisan again.
This time, I can no longer participate in the primary.

It was as easy and long a Fall as we have experienced in my lifetime. It was better than summer because no mosquitoes. Now its beautiful snow covering everything at a nice depth and here in the Valley there is no wind. Its as close to a paradisiacal Northern climate as could be conjured up by spiritual beneficence. So there is that.

Doesn't mean I am not looking forward to life in Puna. I wish you a long really long healthy retirement!!
