Puna's Dumbest Criminal 2019
#1
He may even be Hawaii's dumbest criminal, there's so much to choose from in his amateurish attempt at crime. First... he broke into a police officer's house. It rapidly goes downhill from there, but even when smarter crooks would have called it quits after two more police arrived, he didn't give up:

During the incident, a 50-year-old man was also bitten by Laimana. Laimana has also been accused of exposing himself to people in the home.

Here's another article with a mugshot. Did Laimana slip on the floor? Did he hit multiple doorknobs and other assorted objects on the way down?

The only thing I would add is this burglar is one lucky idiot. He's inside a cops home, the officer presumably had a firearm, yet somehow despite Laimana's behavior he made it out alive.

At the least I hope he got a good kick in the nuts for that.

As far as why the officer didn't shoot Laimana, I assume that despite the out of control and outrageous criminal behavior, it didn't rise to the level of threat required by Hawaii law for deadly force. In many states, just belligerently invading a home is grounds to get you legally shot by the occupant.

And what is "fourth degree sexual assault?" Exposing oneself?

Nov. 1st 1976 a guy smahed his way into the house I was renting. It was about 11:00 that night. I held him at gunpoint while my roomate ca!!ed the cops. I didn't shoot him because, 1.He was alone. 2.He was not armed. 3.He didn't attack me. First cop comes in, and I hold my loaded revolver by the butt and lay it on the sofa. He says, "Nice gun." Then he calls out the bad guy by name, and says " Not you again". Second copies says, "I'd have shot him". That near Seatac Airport just south of Seattle.
