Known as Carl (and male) when living in Hawaii, some here may remember her as a professor in the UH Hilo Geology Department, or on HVO's staff. Or as a co-author of the book, Fire on the Mountain. Her's was a controversial life for sure, but no matter, her contributions were substantial and often ground breaking. And yes, I too can say her's was an out of this world on another level visionary mind. She certainly was the smartest person I ever met.
