Loquats at 350' in HPP

If anyone is thinking of planting a loquat below 1000', I don't think you will be happy. I just removed 2 trees (Mammoth from PIH and Christmas from Logee's) that would not size up the fruit. Once the fruits got to about the size of an olive, they would try to ripen and would crack open. This happened a couple years ago with a Gold Nugget from PIH, but I thought it was not grafted right.
Looking further, I see that the PIH website says they do best above 1000' and I definitely agree.

Native to the cooler hill regions of south-central China, so it won't produce along the coast, but it might work up in Volcano.
