Peace of mind is worth quite a bit sometimes.
With the reality of how this epidemic has gone, anyone who is worried about what might have happened in Puna way back then is little more than a chronic worrier, always worrying about something.
Yes, a test will probably alleviate any worries about an early infection, needlessly.
But, that will only let them find something else to worry about in its place.
What have they gained?
Let them spend their money on anything they want when they can, and it doesn't deprive those with a real need.

Well folks, myself and a few others I know in the vacation rental business in lower Puna saw quite the upswing of Chinese guests this past winter. Seemed to be a popular destination for them. I had 2 or 3 different sets of guests throughout December in one unit. I very much enjoyed the company of one couple and we spent time together and I cleaned the unit after they left. By the last week of December I had a terrible case of something with symptoms very similar to COVID19.

No one will be more worried if they already have antibodies from a mild, previous infection. They will be empowered to help their community, knowing they will not catch or spread the virus if they take standard precautions like hand cleaning.
Also, having more information is better. If some portion of our population has already been exposed, and we did not suffer the same way as other places, it might reveal something useful about the virus that could be used to save lives elsewhere.
Finally, without adequate testing, a lockdown/quarantine will only help temporarily. We still have grocery/restaurant/service workers as vectors. The virus could still spread via asymptomatic carriers after the lockdown. If testing can save additional lives, suffering, and anxiety, why not?

It would be interesting to have someone in the CDC get this information and backtrace them. Find out where they lived and worked, how long their trip had been scheduled, where else they went. I seriously encourage you to do so and follow up on this.

randomq, they were from Shanghai, Puna coast and a day or two in Honolulu. Husband and wife both civil engineers who live at the top of a skyscraper, the architectural firm where they work is at the top of another and they build skyscrapers. It was fun to be on the ground together introducing them to plants and an ecosystem they had never seen, like 2 aliens come to visit. Wuhan was in the middle of building many new skyscrapers at the onset of COVID19 and I assume the husband who had a cold, may have been involved or his co-workers.
I can't imagine the CDC wants to backtrack all the Chinese visitors to America, there could be many into the thousands. IDK, but I will consider your suggestion.
Yes I would very much like to know if I have antibodies. I have a theory challenging the current reinfection theory and that there is a good chance we do have antibodies.

China was doing blood transfers from those that had the virus and had recovered and developed antibodies to those still struggling. So yes, those exposed would have antibodies just not sure how long they last.

Punatic007 , I am thinking of places that may want to test your blood for research purposes to see if you had Covid-19. First place is UH Moana campass, as they do medical research. Of course there is CDC, WHO, etc, which may be too bureaucratic to do anything original at this point. A private university, such as Columbia University that's doing a lot of Covid-19 research. I found their email for research related questions..COVID19_research@columbia.edu or Susan Baker at sbaker1@luc.edu

Thank you twofeet and ironyak(great news!), I'm considering contacting them today. FYI the virus wasn't that bad but what was scary is that it didn't want to go away on it's own. After 2 months or more sometimes bedridden, I started high doses of vitamin C which seemed to get me out of it quickly. Prior to that the symptoms and fever came and went then didn't want to go at all. Tons of coughing with almost no mucus. And the mucus I could cough up with effort was crystal clear, no signs of bacterial infection to cause the pneumonia. There were times I did collapse, twice, it was quite bizarre. Never have I been sick like this and I'm a very very healthy and fit senior in my 60's. But I do believe I was deficient in Vitamin D which I have read makes one significantly more susceptible. I am currently using an under the tongue vitamin D & K spray and am amazed at how much more energy I have.
