Perhaps the state or county could use the COVID-19 federal money and set up traffic lights at each end of the aisles. At a cost of a few million dollars per set of lights, we should be able to spend down that money quickly. And when I say quickly, I mean get the contracts sorted out. It will take another five years or so for the lights to actually be installed.

Interestingly, Safeway also has a one-way system but I've yet to see anyone obey it.

Here's an idea - why not turn the aisles into roundabouts? Or speed bumps? Not sure they will help but the county might consider them. One way speed bumps sound like a great idea to me. Your cart goes out of control and then stops, leaving you nowhere to go while store security arrests you. Foolproof until someone has a better idea. Stop sticks?
