$4 gasoline hits Hilo

Many thought it wouldn't happen here until mid summer.

LET'S BE REAL HERE... NO ONE IS GOING TO STOP DRIVING THEIR CAR OR TRUCK NO MATTER HOW HIGH GAS PRICES ARE UNTIL THEY LITERALLY HAVE NO MONEY LEFT. WE ARE ADDICTED TO OUR AUTOMOBILES. WOULD YOU PAY $20-30 THOUSAND FOR A NEW VEHICLE AND THEN JUST HAVE IT SIT IN YOUR DRIVEWAY?

And with China being the most densely populated country on the planet...their new need for oil will keep oil prices from never going back down.

We need solar powered transportation...and we need it now!

We probably need to rethink individual transportation. Should we really be able to drive to every place on earth? That can't be good, and as it turns out, it isn't. I'm thinking more group transortation, and individual transportation to those hubs.

Good thing our ancestors didn't think that way!
I see using, with full respect and care, what rescourses we have available to us! Precisely geothermal! It's the only alternative that could supply the entire island that's proven uninterrupted for over 5 years! But because of the monopoly held by Matson/Helco, we'll never escape the ruinous prices! But the resource is there!
