Noel, Smiths Appliance used a couple of guys from HPP.... BIG guys. We bought a used glass/oak bookcase a couple of years ago. One of the guys was able to wrap his arms around & pick it up... this thing is door height by almost 5' across! Jim & I struggled to move it when we moved here (some of you guys know, that is a huge statement on the other guy!)
BTW: best to have enclosed bookcases, if you are bringing books, so you can control bugs & humidity.
I am not positive, but there may be some labor exchange in the under the mango tree by the 76 station in Keaau. Either that, or ride sharing.... just what I have noticed while waiting for the early bus... There is also Altres Staffing (808)935-4196 & Big Island Workforce Connection
www.hawaii.gov/labor 981-2860, don't know if they hire out for moves...
Another option, if you have room, is to offer container sharing with 'strings', they gotta help unload....(make sure to spread the other peoples items throughout...) I got my sink over that way... it was worth it for me, and I hope for them....(I did pay a little, but far less than any other shipping option for that monster, so I was happy to help!)
If you need any 'light weight' help, just whistle....
(Jims fee is food, but that is really no savings on your end ;~)
