Wailani Development, Upper Hilo, Medical Campus?
#1
The master plan for Wailani with 171 acres of residential, business, and medical facilities has been revised, and is moving forward. Hopefully it will attract doctors, nurses, related medical staff and services to East Hawaii.  It could allow many more people to stay here rather than move to Honolulu or the mainland when they require extra medical care.

“My initial vision, and this was 15 years ago, is to build a medical campus where we can make Hilo a center of medical excellence for the island — and if we’re more optimistic, for the neighbor islands and the state,” he said. … We got sidetracked because the project was so big and the environment has changed quite a bit.

“But we want to get as many physicians, both primary care and specialists, together so we can provide a comprehensive health care center for Hilo and actually, for the whole island and beyond the island, as well.”

I just want to add that this quote is from Dr. Peter Matsuura, orthopedic surgeon extraordinaire and helluva nice guy.
Certainty will be the death of us.

I hope they can get this together *real fast*.  It’s why I can’t live in Puna full time even though it feels like my real home.  My husband is overloaded with health problems and I have my share.  I am afraid to sell my place to live on the mainland because we have really needed it from time to time.

We also need a Costco in Hilo and real Amazon prime to Puna neighborhoods yesterday.

yeah, I know, the price of living in paradise.

Where can't get Amazon prime in Puna? I do wish we could get Costco here.... bad. I wouldn't mind a Lowe's either just to complete against Home Depot. Especially for appliance delivery.
