Great research Carey. If you can get a list of those churches I think we should promote these churches and their shower facilities.

I know that in Hilo, on Kekuanaoa St. the Church by the Aloha Gas Station near the Airport offers free showers.

I will update this link the next time I drive by and put the hours available.

P.S. this isn't necessarily directed to Punaweb users..... However, we as PW users can tell others that need a shower of places they can go.

If I can compile a list of free showers.... I'm going to ask the lifeguards at the Pahoa Pool if I can post that list in the locker rooms of the community pool.

Perhaps you could also note which ones were cold showers and which ones were hot showers? Our water heater went out last month and we had two weeks waiting for a new part to arrive. Cold showers are nasty! Bleah! Fortunately, we have a camping shower bucket which holds five gallons of whatever temperature water you put in it but it isn't very nice either. It is really nice to have the shower working again.

Also, if you know any sail boat folks, when they first get into port, offering them a hot shower is almost if not more welcome than inviting them over for dinner.
