Gas savings test - done
#1
I am sure that's not news for most people that driving speed 55 miles

vs 65 on freeway can save you money. You can also get a ticket -

whichever comes first.

Anyway, I decided to check how much I'd save.

I drove for a week exactly the same way on cruise control and filled

the gas exactly after 1 week, the same time.

Here's the results - almost 1.8 gallons savings a week - about $30 a months.

Not much,but still nice.

BTW,twice a cop drove by - nothing happened. But I was in the right lane and was not impeding the traffic.

Disclaimer -that was just an experiment.Nothing more, nothing less..

Living down off the Red Road I've started coasting in certain spots to and from Pahoa, and down the hill in Seaview. I usually get 35 MPG and this last tank was 37.7! Well we don't have a 65 zone here, and from Pahoa to Keaau even though it's 55 most of the way, you're usually lucky if you can go 45 even if there are just a few cars on the road.

I don't think the speed limit is over 55 anywhere on the island - right?

One factor we don't hear about is the elevation changes - not a lot of flat and level driving here.

Any speculation on how long it'll take to get into the newly priced oil, and when will that trickle down to us!

They sure can raise em quick!
