Hattie's was just sold to a California group in May. Sounds like somebody unloaded just in time and/or somebody bought a stinker without doing all their homework. Oh well, they are reorganizing and not going out of business . . . for now.

Cheers,
Jerry

I sat next to the current ceo on a flight to Hawaii a couple months ago and he told me sales were way down. Come to think about he was flying coach,so at least he was saving money!

I think it's a stretch to consider Hilo Hatties a "Hawaii" business. They haven't been owned locally for quite a few years, and sell very few products made in Hawaii (or anywhere else in the USA). "Hawaii's store" would more accurately be called "Manilla's store".

It is sad, however, that some very nice longtime local employees will most likely be effected.
