Gee Rob why not submit your idea to the IRS (informational resource section) of the police dept. They are suppose to be the dept which help folks from becoming victims in the first place. In the reading somewhere it speaks of how they will send someone to your home/property with solutions/advice to theft issues. I believe the article was in the Star a year or so ago. Perhaps with all the new found funds the county now has they might just implement such an idea..

aloha all,
These are all excellent ideas...we have neighorhood watches established with local community police that attend - it would be a fantastic idea to point out any of these suggestions during these meetings ie sting operations, branding personal information, etc to get input from the local authorities....unfortunately i'm not on the island to participate in any of these meetings but our local subdivision in orchidland is holding a neighborhood watch meeting this June 14th at 6:30pm at the Bahai center-11 3723 34th avenue at the end of 34th and aulii and specdial guests lietenant sanborn and officer taka from the community policing project will be on hand to answer any questions and provide suggestions....i'm sure they would welcome any input from all you punaweb participants and collectively come up with effective programs to reduce these ongoing problems-nothing like collective brainstorming to make changes - please do attend the meeting even if you are not an orchidland neighbor.
i'm glad i just got my recent orchildland newsletter to point out the upcoming meeting.
aloha,
noel

There are products available now to the basic consumer with "nano-tech" built in. There is a "glue" in which floats tiny chips. These "chips" transmit and can be programed and scanned for data retrieval. All you need is a "drop" of this glue placed anywhere on any item and it can be scanned like when the Vet finds a lost dog. The glue dries clear and you can place multiple "drops of chips" on a single item to "hedge" your bet and get the item back if it is stolen. In Southern Cal many stolen items are "fenced" through "flea markets and yard sales", So when you think your getting a "great steal",,you just might be. And when your offered a "great deal" on some 2 by's or a few sheets of 3/4's, think, 'where could this fine law abiding fellow have "acquired" or "liberated" these materials?". There are no "extras" in costruction. If you have "extras" you can return them for cash or store credit where you purchased them.
