SMA's - and you know who you are!!
#11
If you have time - call or email me, I have some questions which to point you in the right direction.

Typically, you are supposed to do nothing until SMA Assessment application is ok'd. That said I have seen 3 different people told 3 different things:
1) Cut nothing
2) Cut only things 2" diameter and smaller.
3) Cut only prop line boundery or clear fallen wood to see prop line and ponding.

All in same subdivision.....

OK, I still don't get it. Apparently, a special management area is a designation you must apply for. What is the purpose? Is there an upside/downside?

It is my understanding you must apply for special permits to build on an SMA designated parcel. They are designated by govt. agencies, state or federal, because of ecological issues, tidelands, rare plants, animals, or historic sites, etc. Usually on or near ocean.

or - just think of SMA's as another way your caring government gets to influence your life...

The SMA is already assigned to lots with a close distance to the ocean.

In order to build, you must apply for permission to build or apply for an exemption through a SMA Assessment Application.
