I've seen an old house built of single wall cedar 1" x 6" vertical T & G which had been in the rain forest for fifty years, vacant and abanded and the walls are still in good shape. The roof was still good so the walls were kept dry (at least on the inside) and there wasn't any rot or termites.

Funny you should mention cedar. I am currently looking into importing cedar from the Pacific Northwest. Cedar is hard to find around here, and redwood is very expensive. I have some connections with suppliers in the Seattle area and hope to make cedar available here at a much cheaper price than the redwood thats available here. So if anyone is interested in cedar products, feel free to give me a call: 938-2540, or email: jm_minica@yahoo.com.
Aloha,
Mark
