Container Home/PUNA
#1
I'm building a 2,000 sq ft container home in PUNA this year. Wondering what sort of spray on ceramic insulation coatings are being used on metal structures on the island. I've read about SUPERTHERM, HYTECH, SOLEX and others. They all claim to be 'the One' and that other brands are frauds. Not sure if any of it is readily available. Castle block can order one of them but any feed back is most welcome on this subject.

I am really drawn to the container idea because it lends itself to a boxy, industrial, modern looking house that is affordable, green, permanent, permitable...
but I am having a hard time finding a lender to fund this. I am seeing that 'owner/builder' and 'construction loan' are words that mix like oil and water especially when you mention shipping containers. Throw in a general contractor from another state, (my cousin) and it turns to a volatile explosive. AAAAHHHH!!!!! Thoughts?

General Contractor from out of state is not general contractor, it's a friend who helps you to build under the owner builder permit. If he is not licensed here he is not a GC as far as the State of Hawaii and your lender are concerned. It's not easy to get a loan on unconventional homes (even like the Multi-facetted!)

You can also look through the list of these prefabs. Many have been mentioned in topics and this site puts many of them together in one place.
